Mountain View Hunt Club is a private hunting club in Washington County, Maryland. This page explains the club's text messaging program: who receives messages, how a member agrees to receive them, what the messages say, and how to stop them. It is published openly so anyone — including our messaging carriers — can read it without an account.

Who receives messages

Only registered adult club members and membership applicants who have given their own mobile number. The club does not buy, rent, or import phone numbers, does not market to the public, and never sends promotional or marketing text messages.

How members opt in

There are exactly two ways a number is added to the program:

On the account sign-up form at www.mountainviewhuntclub.com/auth?tab=signup. The member types their own mobile number and actively checks the separate, unchecked SMS consent box shown below. This SMS choice is separate from accepting the Terms and Privacy Policy. Consent is not a condition of membership, and the account can be created with the box left unchecked.
By texting START to (240) 301-1818. The Club replies with an opt-in confirmation containing the program name, message frequency, rates, and STOP/HELP instructions.

The live sign-up form with this consent box is at www.mountainviewhuntclub.com/auth — choose “Create account”. The box is empty until the member ticks it, and the account can be created without ticking it.

Opt-in by text: the exact exchange

A member who prefers to opt in by text sends the single word START to the club line (240) 301-1818 from their own mobile phone. Nothing is sent to that number before that message arrives. These are the word-for-word automatic replies:

What the club sends

One-time login verification codes
Hunt check-in and check-out confirmations
Replies to member commands such as IN, OUT, STATUS, WHO, HARVEST, GATE, DUES, WEATHER
Gate access codes requested by the member
Dues and membership reminders
Safety, weather, and emergency alerts about the club property

Frequency, rates, and how to stop

Message frequency varies and depends on how often the member hunts and checks in.
Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP at any time to stop all Club text messages from that number. The Club sends one required confirmation and then no further texts unless you later reply START.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy

Mobile information and messaging consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The Club does not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent. Mobile information may be disclosed only to service providers acting on the Club's behalf to deliver and support the messages you requested, and never for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
